The tests showed that he was a Man who lived during the first part of the Iron Age: the Celtic Iron Age, aka the pre-Roman Iron Age. The Tollund Man ate 12-24 hours before he died; his last meal was “some kind of porridge or gruel” and a variety of some wild and not wild seeds like barley, knotgrass, false flax, and flaxseed that were found in his stomach during research. They also gathered that he was hung and then buried in bog. The scientists know this because there were Rope marks around his neck; the tongue was swollen, which is common in other hanging victims. What is interesting, though, is that his face was made to look peaceful.
The Tollund Man was approximately 40 years old when he died and was 5’2.
